It is customary in the mission field to celebrate your landmarks by burning something. Reaching your 6 month mark is traditionally observed by the burning of a tie.(Preferably a boring one, that you don't wear to often.) Lighting the tie in the house and carrying it out to the patio, seems like a safe, responsible way to carry out the ceremony. The bigger the fire, the better. The ceremony is not complete until the tie is completely obliterated. Six down, eighteen to go!
